Using ELearning to Generate Leads

sell-online-coursesELearning can be applied to almost any industry. In fact, your area of profession likely has some elearning available for learning new skills, receiving accreditation, or certification.

Most of us have taken an elearning course related to our profession at some point. But have you ever thought about leveraging elearning to boost your credibility, bring in leads, and potentially launch a consulting career?

For example, let’s say that you are a tutor to high school students, and you specialize in preparing them for the ACT test (an often mandatory exam in the United States prior to going to university).

As a tutor, your income is in many ways limited to your time. However, with elearning, this is not the case. You can fill your schedule, and direct others to your elearning course.

Better yet, you could require that the prospective students take the elearning course first. Then only afterwards you schedule one-on-one sessions to focus on the more advanced techniques.

ELearning Brings Credibility

In the scenario of an ACT tutor, having an elearning course available is better than a business card – it’s a revenue generator! There are thousands of tutors out there, but only a small number would have their own elearning program that they put students through. It’s a great way to differentiate.

Not too long ago, marketing consultants picked up on a similar technique. They would publish a book (usually self-publish) and then give it away as a “business card”. This would immediately differentiate them from the other marketing consultants out there.

While a physical book can still be used with almost any profession, elearning is even better. An elearning course can provide a “carrot”, a reason for completing it (credit, certificates, discounts, etc.).

If you are really ambitious, you could do both a book and elearning course, using them in conjunction to establish your credibility and provide real value to your prospective customers.

The pieces of the puzzle are there, it is just a matter of putting it together!
